Many organizations along with its leaders, managers and employees agree that consistent, effective; communication is the key to increasing productivity, retaining good employees and the foundation for success. For some groups, there can never be too much communication. However, in an era of “doing more with less” many view internal communication as added bureaucracy and just another item on an already too long to-do list. In whichever camp you reside, it is clear that one organization is taking a different approach to sharing information.
Last week, St. Luke’s Health System of Idaho rolled out Unity’s enterprise application the WonderBar™ to over 9000 employees across the state. The WonderBar™ is a media-rich application that delivers a first-of-its-kind “push-video” technology. The WonderBar is designed to deliver a complete digital media experience through access to a customizable library of expert, short-form video content.
The St. Luke’s WonderBar or Channel One will be used as a complimentary tool to the current internal communication program and is set to replace the traditional activity, a monthly hard copy newsletter. To date, Channel One has an adoption rate of over 25% and growing.
“The initial goal is to utilize the application internally to enhance the effectiveness of internal corporate communication and future employee learning and development initiatives,” said Beth Toal, Director of Corporate Communications for St. Luke’s Health System.
